Rose Blanche to Little Bay (La Poile)
Distance: 17.2nm
Time: 3.5hrs
Motoring: 3.5hr (approx)
Left around 9:30, winds were light at 5knots and sunny. Seas were calm. Crossed paths with SV Florence Clara as they were heading back to PAB and said hello on the VHF.
Checked out La Poile harbour as an anchoring option, very deep. Very protected from surge, not so much from south winds as the terrain was not very high. Our mast towered over the hills.
Made our way to Little Bay and went into the tickle (tip of the fjord) to see if we could anchor. Fishing gear was at entrance and it was very narrow, not enough room to even put out 3:1 scope.
Met up with Bert (SV Kokoum) who had docked at the south, abandoned dock. Dock is solid except for top planks which were completely rotten. We tied up there, had lunch and decided to tie up a government wharf in town due to the condition of the wharf. The bollards were solid but the planks all rotten. There would be no walking across it.

Town wharf was solid and the ferry ties up there every night. It ferries people only from here to Rose Blanche. Town only had 35 ppl while were there. Usually has 51 full time residents. Won't be long before the town is abandoned or resettled.
Storm is coming through. Expected to start last night but as of 7:30 this morning, winds still at 5 knots. Barometer has gone down 7 bars since yesterday. We will stay here until the weather settles enough for us to leave.
