Murray River to Souris, PEI

Distance: 29.9nm

Time: 5hrs

Motoring: 3.5hrs

The decision of the day was: do we stay here one more night and get rocked awake by all the lobster fisherman between 3:30 and 5:30am or do we head to Souris, Knowing that we won't be as sheltered with a low coming in. It was decided that we would be able to tuck in well behind the breakwater at Souris and put out enough rode to ride out the winds.

When we were ready to leave, a boat came by and provided us with 6 free lobsters and thanked us for providing n extra light and apologized for the early morning "wake up". Thank you Murray River lobster fisherman!!!

Getting out and into those harbors was challenging as the lobster pots were numerous. It necessitated posting Christine on the bow to safely motor our way. Once cleared, we set sail and made good time and speed. Predicwind forecasted we would be motoring most of the way. Luckily that didn't happen.

Dropped anchor and it dragged. Picked it up and tried about 10 ft further in a patch of sand and it set. Bottom was a mixture and sand and rock.

We put out 7:1 of rode in 15ft with 20ft of snubber. All held well throughout the blow. Winds got up to 25 knots or maybe higher.
